Interview with Luke - 12/10/2018

Pictured: Luke in May 2017 at a Chick-fil-A grand opening. I know it's not a current picture, but it was all I had.

* Luke's responses are bolded in quotes
** I added links to specific references for easy followups by the reader

1. What is a food that you really enjoy these days?
"Definitely burgers."
Any burgers in particular?
"The Penny Whopper, ha."

2. What musical artist are you listening to most these days?
"Let’s see, I’ve been delving into some T.I. and Xzibit recently.
I’ve also been dabbling in stand-up comedy. I’d recommend Ricky Gervais’s special called 'Humanity'. It’s a bit of a slow start, but it’s really good."

3. What tv shows are you watching/wish you had time to watch?
"Narcos: Mexico is on my wish list.
On the other hand, I’m currently watching lots of movies: Peppermint (which was phenomenal), as well as Papillon, which is about a guy in the 1920s who escaped from a French prison. It’s like Sons of Anarchy but set in the 1930s and with much less male rape."

4. What’s the last movie you saw in a theater?
"Last movie I saw in theaters was Creed 2. I’m kind of ashamed to say it. It was terrible.
I thought the first Creed was decent, it brought something new but familiar to the genre. If that’s even possible. It had good moments.
Creed 2, I felt like - I don’t know. The music reminded of that Dave Chappelle sketch about crazy dancing making my penis soft; but about the music in the movie."

5. What is something that you accomplished this year?
"I got a Whopper for a penny."

6. Do you have any goals for the upcoming new year?
"See if I can get more Whoppers for a penny. Not much else."

7. Any parting words you’d like to share with the Erickson siblings?
“We used to fight aliens together. What happened to us?” - Luke

Welcome new author!

I just invited Karl to be an additional author on the blog.
I have no idea why he wasn't invited before.
I suspect he was invited but did not click the button in the email to accept his invitation.
Accept!  please accept!  We'd like to hear from you Karl.

Christmas 2017

Hey everybody! Welcome back to the Sibling Christmas Sex Change Blog!

I don't know if anybody cares or has other plans in the works, but I have a simple proposal to make for Christmas this year. Nothing particularly new, but I enjoy it, so that's why I'm writing this at 1 in the morning while watching the first episode of Taboo on Hulu.

First of all, we're scrapping the cousin gift exchange because I'm jealous of all the sweet toys that you guys give. And I think we should just keep things real simple this year, so no cousin gift exchange this year.

My suggestion is that we just do the classic $10 gift card exchange. Everybody gets randomly assigned a sibling and they will gift them to a restaurant of their choosing. If the requested restaurant doesn't have easily obtainable gift cards, then you can just send a $10 bill. If you'd really like to save on postage, a $10 venmo transfer is acceptable. Once you receive your gift card/$10 bill/venmo funds, your job is to take a picture of yourself/family at that restaurant and post it back here (or send it to me and I will post it) so we can all enjoy your smiles and happy faces.

Here are the random assignments:

Karl gives to Kaleb
Eli gives to Luke
Tina gives to Karl
Luke gives to Tina
Kaleb gives to Eli

Your job is to reach out to your assigned sibling to ask them what their preferred restaurant is. This has a second effect of encouraging conversation between you and at least two other siblings. If you can't make contact in a reasonable time frame (for whatever reason), the assumed favorite restaurant defaults to Chick-Fil-A.

Let me know what you guys think, otherwise I'm going to assume that everyone is in accordance and move forward.

P.S. Taboo is a pretty good show so far. I'm only one episode in, but it has my recommendation.

Anyone Remember the Broken White Lamp?

Hi all,

I am seeking a memory. All of this Thankgiving tetherball play reminded me of a moment when the parents left Karl, Eli, Tina and I at home. (sorry Kaleb) We were pretty young and I believe Eli and Karl were fighting over the ball and Tina was trying to mediate and we ended up breaking the white lamp. Does anyone remember that? What was all that?

Love,

Luke

Christmas 2016

It's time to remember that we are family and we love each other.  New assignments!

Karl gives to Tina.
Eli gives to Kaleb.
Luke gives to Karl.
Tina gives to Eli.
Kaleb gives to Luke.

Please send the following to your assigned person:
  • a $10 gift certificate to a happy place
  • a hand-written movie quote

And check the blog for more awesome "remember when" moments.

PS Kaleb - I still have your tie.  Maybe I'll give it back to you for Christmas.

HI all,

Are we doing a gift exchange again this year? The posting on this blog worked out sort of well.

Live the dream!

Luke
